Peni Fakaua

Peni Fakaua is an interdisciplinary artist and an up-and-coming leader within the Aotearoa ballroom scene, hailing from the Audacious House of Givenchy. Born and raised in South Auckland. Pen is of Samoan descent and he whakapa’s to the villages of Vaimoso and Moata’a. He graduated from Unitec in 2023 with a Bachelor of Performing Arts. His current practice is grounded in movement and performance, drawing from his cultural dance traditions and the expressive framework ballroom to explore identity, community, and embodiment. Since graduating, he has collaborated with a range of prominent artists and organisations, including Footnote New Zealand Dance, Isope Akau’ola, World of WearableArt (WOW), FAFSWAG, Forest Kapo, and Holly Newsome. Through his work, Peni continues to cultivate spaces that celebrate cultural lineage and collective expression within contemporary performance contexts.
