About the project
Mudh (Moo-th) meaning Home.
Mudh is the language of Kala Lagaw Ya – Mabuyaagi dialect of the Western cluster of the Torres Strait Islands, which is situated in the far north part of Queensland, Australia.
Mudh is a contemporary dance project in the City of Stirling that invites women from diverse cultural backgrounds to come together and explore the themes of nurture, belonging and home through the power of movement.
“For many, the idea of ‘home’ is not always fixed or in one place. It’s something we carry with us, built through connection, survival, and love. This project is about nurturing that bond through the language of dance—honouring where we come from and finding new places where we can belong.”
Through a series of workshops and creative processes, Mudh will culminate in a powerful performance in September 2025. This is more than just a dance project; it’s a homecoming. A coming together of women who recognize that no matter where we are, we carry our homes within us and together we can create a space where we all belong.
