Perth Moves is back and we’re going to need a bigger dance floor! Join us at Forrest Place for a free program of dance classes, a dance battle, an LGBTIQ+ Elders Dance Club by All The Queens Men and the premiere of a powerful new dance work Manifest by legendary choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.
Everyone’s invited to join in this free summer Dance Hub taking place over six nights. Come and celebrate movement, music, connection and community in the heart of our city.
There’s something for everyone to get down to at Perth Moves – whether you’re a dancer, a dance enthusiast or a keen observer, everyone is welcome.
All events are free to attend and no previous dance experience is required.

The STRUT and VSQD legendary link up returns for The Perth Moves Battle 2025 – this time taking centre stage at Forrest Place. All styles and all ages are invited to throw down and go head-to-head in an exchange of creativity and expression. Witness ballet vs breaking vs krump vs contemporary – judged by a world-class panel featuring Azzam "Shazam" Mohamed, Tammy Ng and Krayze, all soundtracked by a genre-bending selection of music by DJ Rok Riley.

Attention all fabulous and fabulous-at-heart LGBTIQ+ elders and allies! It’s time to dust off those dancing shoes and get ready to strut your stuff for one night only. This event welcomes and celebrates older LGBTIQ+ communities and allies. Whether you’re a fan of disco, ballroom, a cheeky line dance or just getting down to some good old pop hits, we’ve got it all covered. This is your chance to learn new dances, enjoy performances from local guest artists and connect with other fabulous people in a safe, inclusive, joyous and multi-generational space for everyone. Everyone is welcome to this dance celebration of our older LGBTIQ+ communities, allies and chosen families. Entry is free. No dance experience necessary.

Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui debuts a powerful new work that features 12 local dancers supported by a ‘silent choir’ of 50 community volunteers and an original score by Alexandre Dai Castaing and Ian Wilkes featuring two grand pianos. In an Australian first, renowned Moroccan-Belgian choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui brings his creative vision to Perth. Manifest is a groundbreaking performance inspired by the inherent conflicts within society, between individuals and communities. It celebrates the patience and courage to engage in these debates, and to confront each other's beliefs with diplomacy and respect. Every dialogue is a micro-war, whose ultimate goal is not victory, but insight.

This restorative session is perfect for all ages and experience levels. The class invites you to bring your attention inward through breath, flowing movements and gentle stretches. We will culminate in a calming meditation leaving you feeling refreshed, centred and re-energised. Performer and Yoga practitioner Isha Sharvani incorporates the wisdom of Indian Guru's BKS Iyengar and Satguru teachings with an accessible approach to wellness.

Keen to be part of Perth Festival? We’re looking for 50 volunteers to perform as a ‘silent choir’ in this powerful new work. All ages, abilities and experience are welcome to volunteer. No professional dance or performance experience is required. All you need is a willingness to unite in a performance of protest for peace.
