2024 SEED Residencies

STRUT Dance provides ongoing opportunities for dance artists, supporting the development of choreographic practice and the creation of new work. A component of this support for artists is STRUT’s SEED Residency program. Since 2007, these residencies have offered choreographers financial and administrative resources to explore new ideas and begin new artistic projects.

STRUT’s 2024 SEED Residency program offers 2 x $10,000 grants that will be awarded as follows:
• 1x SEED residency for an established artist (>5 years of choreographic practice)
• 1x SEED residency for an early-career artist (first 5 years of choreographic practice)

STRUT Dance remains responsive to the needs of our membership and hence, are offering one SEED to an early-career artist in 2024 to acknowledge that programming in 2023 had fewer opportunities for this group.

In 2024 both SEED Residencies are open to all Australian artists, but the development must take place in Western Australia. We encourage interstate artists to consider working with WA artists where possible.

* As a WA STRUT member, you are eligible to apply for multiple choreographic opportunities, but you will only be selected for one opportunity (except in the case of Space grants and [CP]3 program) to ensure our programs benefit a range of artists. If you are applying for more than one major choreographic opportunity (SEED, LOCALE & RESTORE), please specify in your email to STRUT which opportunity is your first preference.
