About Dance Nucleus

Dance Nucleus is a choreographic centre for the capability development of independent artists and the creative development of contemporary performance. Dance Nucleus enables a network of trans-local partnerships in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific.

What is [CP]³?

[CP]³ is an online academy for the development of critical praxes in contemporary choreography and performance making. The main aim of the 5-month programme is to help artists articulate and develop their own artistic practices.

In [CP]³, artistic praxis is seen as a holistic process of defining one’s research questions, outlining responses to one’s socio-political context, designing heuristic methods for artistic creation, proposing encounters with the public(s), and forwarding choreography as a vital discipline in the production of cultural knowledge. As a study programme, [CP]³ caters to dance and performance makers in the Asia-Pacific with several years of experience in choreographic creation and production, and who wish to deepen their experimental approaches to art making.

[CP]³ changed the way I think about making work and defining myself in a broader critical context as an emerging artist from Boorloo/Perth Australia. It offered me the rare opportunity to practice how I want to talk about myself and my projects, with the opportunity to learn from artists across the Asia-Pacific region doing the same. I've been able to create international and interstate relationships and get an insight into the many arts contexts outside of my own. I am so grateful to have been afforded the chance to learn from so many incredible mentors and artists, and the chance to respond to these learnings through physical practice. I would recommend this opportunity to any maker with an interest in movement, performance, and making through a critical, reflective practice.

"I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to invest in and interrogate my own making strategies and further develop my emerging choreographic identity under the mentorship of the [CP]³ leadership team, and in dialogue with other members of the Australasian performance making community".
