Mackenzie Brown

Mackenzie Brown is an interdisciplinary performance artist based in Walyalup. Having completed WAAPA’s Bachelor of Performing Arts in Performance Making Mackenzie is now completing research investigating the intersection of embodied creativity and neuroimaging technology. Mackenzie makes work that explores the many different types of interconnectedness we experience. This is explored inter-culturally, through his time Studying Koodiyatam under Guru Kapila Venu, TaiJi under Karen Jordan Heng Po-Chu or at the Intercultural Theatre Institute. Mackenzie also explores this connectivity through interdisciplinarity working with The PVI (performance Video intervention) collective, STRUT Dance and West Australian Opera. This exploration of interconnection is always underpinned by an understanding of how it plays out in communities and is explored through their work with DADAA (Disability and Disadvantage Arts Association), West Australian Youth Theatre Company (WAYTCo) and Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP). Mackenzie is a performance maker interested in how we can use collaborative storytelling to bring us together and how this storytelling is driven by measured risk taking, authentic expression and a unity of body and mind.
