We invite participants from all styles, forms, experiences, and trajectories to attend this nine-day workshop from Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui / Eastman, facilitated by Nicola Leahey and Nick Coutsier.

From the workshop facilitators:

“In this workshop we will look at what it means to move as a collective force by acknowledging the individual as an active piece of the puzzle. Through the rather challenging movement phrases from the Opera Satyagraha, we will work and sweat our way through this material, cultivating our bodies and discovering ourselves along the way.

As an individual, we can observe where we find our place in the group and what is our contribution? What are our commonalities but also what are our differences to celebrate? All of it can exist in this space and with awareness, we can weave our threads together to create a unique tapestry.

Themes of nonviolent resistance and peaceful protest are at the core of Satyagraha and they are also what we can encourage in ourselves before extending them out to the collective. How do we meet challenges in our own lives and in our dancing? How can we challenge ourselves from a starting point of acceptance?”

On November 16 and 17, STRUT and Eastman will hold a separate audition for Manifest, a world premiere by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui for Perth Moves, as part of Perth Festival 2025.

More info here. Audition registrations open on 25 July 2024.
