Practice Sharing with Emma Fishwick + Serena Chalker

Practice Sharing is an arena to enter into artistic dialogue, an opportunity to share skills, a space for physical thinking, and a way to engage in different creative practices.

Facilitated by established local dance artists and visiting guest artists, the sessions are presented in an open, workshop-style format that may move between dancing, writing, choreographic research and discussion.

In this practice sharing, Emma and Serena will be sharing parts of their creative process for their work What Came Before.

Participants will explore the processes involved in arriving at a “beginning” of a new work and the (often invisible) labour involved in creating artistic ideas and collaborations. Participants are asked to come to this practice sharing with a brief concept or idea of an as-yet unrealised work as we will be working with tasks that help to form structures around your ideas. Participants will also investigate collaborative meeting points between artists and how to find points of connection between your own individual dance lineages and interests.

The workshop will involve writing, talking, discussion and some movement. Please bring a pen and paper and comfortable clothes to move in.
