Presented by Shaun Johnston with STRUT Dance
From 28 October to 8 November 2025, Shaun Johnston presented The Scramble, a full-length dance theatre work bringing contemporary dance and competitive wrestling into collision. Developed from a ten-minute work first presented through 600 Seconds: Moves in 2024, the season was presented in partnership with STRUT Dance through the EVOLVE Program.
Created by Johnston in collaboration with performers Luther Wilson and Nathan Turtur, The Scramble explored male intimacy through the physical language of grappling, tussling, resistance and support. Two men crashed together, pulled apart and helped each other up, revealing the tenderness, tension and vulnerability contained within the ways men connect through touch.
