In an Australian first, renowned Moroccan-Belgian choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui brought his creative vision to Perth.

Crowds gathered in Forrest Place as one of the world’s most celebrated choreographers turned the familiar surrounds of the city inside-out. Cherkaoui debuted a powerful new work that featured 12 local dancers supported by a ‘silent choir’ of 50 community volunteers and an original score by Alexandre Dai Castaing and Ian Wilkes featuring two grand pianos played live.

Manifest was a groundbreaking performance inspired by the inherent conflicts within society, between individuals and communities. It celebrated the patience and courage to engage in these debates, and to confront each other’s beliefs with diplomacy and respect – an encounter is a conflict where the ultimate goal is not victory, but insight.
