About Make-Shift
Make-Shift centres experimentation and risk-taking as an approach to live art making. This platform was created in response to the need for more regular performance opportunities, and to give artists space to try new ideas in low-stakes settings to encourage innovation, curiosity, and the unknown.
We posit that this kind of risk-taking thrives in a low-fi environment, a culture of questioning and an openness in conversation.
Our aim is to support people to ask questions with and about their work and engage with process and performance as a vehicle for reflexive research, to nurture a culture within the dance sector that authentically pursues artistic integrity and grassroots change.
We aim for collective nourishment and appreciation for the power that dance has to reach, and energetically mobilise people, spaces, and places over time.
