About Midfield
In November 2025, Fremantle Biennale, Performing Lines WA and STRUT Dance will offer an experimental choreographic platform over three weeks within the context of the Fremantle Biennale.
The participants will be accompanied across the three weeks by renowned multi-genre artists who will offer provocation and guidance. Participating artists will be invited to consider and develop new thinkings, new works, actions and live scores in response to each other, guest facilitators, place and the 2025 Fremantle Biennale.
Midfield offers participation for 4 x mid-career choreographers from Boorloo/Perth and 3 x from regional WA / national, and / or international (Asia-Pacific).
Participation is via application. Please read on for further information on how to apply.
Successful artists will receive:
- Weekly fee of $1500 across three weeks ($4500 total)
- For those travelling to Boorloo/Perth – travel, accomodation and per diems will be provided for
Key dates:
- 30 June – Submissions open
- 16:00 AWST, 24 July – Submissions close
- 7 August – Successful artists notified
- 7 October – Online induction
- 4 Nov to 23 Nov – Midfield program
