STRUT Dance Scholarship Program

STRUT Dance recognises the financial challenges facing independent artists when trying to sustain an ongoing practice and career. In response, we have developed avenues of access into the Master Workshop and Collaborations Programs through an annual scholarship opportunity. This is underpinned by the generous support of foundations and individuals who believe in and champion STRUT Dance’s objectives to develop local dance and physical theatre artists.

The STRUT Dance Scholarship Program offers the following pathways:

  • The Rogues program

  • The Feilman Foundation Pathways to Excellence

The Feilman Foundation Pathways to Excellence

In recognition of the valuable role that STRUT Dance plays in dance sector development, the Feilman Foundation is generously sponsoring recent graduates transitioning out of tertiary academies. This takes the form of scholarships to cover workshop fees, which we acknowledge can be a challenge for students who are just stepping into the industry. Scholarships are available across the Master Workshop and Collaborations Programs and are limited to graduates of West Australian
or Victorian academies.

To date 75 graduates have received Pathways
to Excellence scholarships with 20 of those accessing the Hofesh Shechter Master Workshop series. This support has resulted in five Feilman recipients participating in STRUT Dance’s Shechter presentation, Hofesh in the Yard, in the 2020 Perth festival - a wonderful demonstration of our pipeline of opportunity for independent artists and the impact that the Feilman Foundation has in developing the local arts sector.

Due to the impacts of border closures, scholarships allocated in 2020 for workshops have been carried forward to the 2022 program. If you were a successful recipient in 2020 please confirm your willingness and capacity to take up this opportunity in 2022 HERE
