Montserrat Heras

Montserrat Heras is an emerging Australian, Spanish and Mexican dance artist based in Perth. Her training includes Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company MASA (Israel, 2019), Transit Dance (Melbourne,2017) and Broadway Dance Centre with an awarded Scholarship (NYC, 2016). National and international performance and choreographic opportunities include FRINGE WORLD (Perth, 2021 and 2022), SIREN by GOGI Dance Collective and Talitha Maslin (2022), Cool Change Contemporary Residency (2022), SITU-8 and Shortcuts by STRUT DANCE (2021), NITZOZOT Festival (Israel, 2019) Malaysia International Arts Festival (2018), and others. Her experience in film includes choreographing and performing for Undergarment Odysseys, directed by Alex Thomson and nominated for Best Australian Spotlight, and performed for ‘These Walls’, directed by Brodie May and featured in Revelation Perth International Film Festival, 2021. Her work ‘Together We Unravel’, created alongside artist Elsa Bignell, was sponsored by Propel Youth Arts. She recently presented ‘Spectrums of Chocolate Cake’ as part of the Blue Room Annual Season 2022 and was sponsored by the DLGC. She had the opportunity to present her work ‘Hysterie’ in collaboration with Austrian artist Ines Bianca at Coronarts Festival in Wiesbaden, Germany in July 2022. Montserrat is very interested in the intersections between arts, psychology and philosophy and recently completed a Bachelor of Counselling.
