Matthew Morris
Matthew is a mature interdisciplinary performing artist, home grown in Australia having trained at WAAPA back in the late 1980’s. Since then he has worked internationally for over 35 years with companies and directors on both small and large scale projects.
His preferred practice is devised theatre or collaborative creation, and his body of work has so far included dance, physical theatre, puppetry, film, site specific/immersive experience and digital arts. A bit of choreography, modelling, advertising and voice overs to spice things up. Returning to the art of making after a long hiatus Matthew is curious to explore the interplay of language, both the written/spoken word and the body in movement, weaving personal and cultural narratives into storytelling that invite empathic experience and hold space for our shared humanity.
A small list of the bold and beautiful he has had the privilege to work with are: Fevered Sleep, Punchdrunk, DV8, Siobhan Davies, Raewyn Hill, Laura Boynes, Fearghus O’Conchuir, Theatre-Rites, Daisy Sanders, WA Ballet, Chrissie Parrott Dance Collective, Philip Connaughton, This Is Pop Baby, Ballet du Grande Theatre de Geneve, Strut Dance, Didier Theron, Australian Dance Theatre, Davis Freeman, Candoco and Liz Roche.
