Make-Shift Evenings

Make-Shift Evenings is a bi-monthly performance opportunity, ‘open mic night of sorts,’ for improvisers and performers. The platform encourages spontaneity, risk taking and practice sharing in a low-fi environment with artists testing their boundaries in real-time experiments. Each performance is followed by a discussion where artists can delve deeper into their creative processes, bridging the gap between performers and spectators. This dynamic interaction not only enriches the experience for audiences but also provides invaluable feedback and connections for the artists.

To perform in Make-Shift requires the artist/s to send in an expression of interest to makeshiftevenings@gmail.com with their name/s and how long they would like to perform for; it is a first in best dressed system.

Make-Shift usually happens on the first Friday evenings of every second month at King Street Art Centre. It is run by local improvisational performer and choreographer Lara Dorling and is supported by STRUT Dance. Follow @makeshiftevenings on Instagram to stay up to date.
