Isabella Stone
Isabella Stone is a dance artist from and currently based in Boorloo/Perth. She is a performer, choreographer and teacher with over a decade of experience in WA and lutruwita/Tasmania.
Isabella believes in dance as a language that crosses borders and unites communities; the act of dancing facilitates a space for sharing – shared stories and shared experiences – and creates space for change. Her approach is centred around people and kindness, play and imagination, liberation of self and the importance of community.
Most recently Isabella was the Artistic Director of DRILL performance Company Inc, a youth dance company based in Nipaluna/Hobart (February 2020 – May 2023). She has performed nationally and internationally working with an array of independent artists, was a Tasdance company member 2017 – 2019 and performed in Dark Mofo (2021 + 2022) for Pope Alice, Close Encounters and Transcendence respectively. Her first major choreography mouseprint premiered at the State Theatre of WA in 2015. Isabella has created work for DRILL, LINK Dance Company, WAAPA, STEPS Youth Dance Company, Project NEXT by Co:3 and choreography for ANENEMY created with Davina Wright for UTAS 2022.
CLASS DESCRIPTION: This class will facilitate time to connect with yourself through movement and imagination via a gentle beginning. Pathways we may take could be technique exercises, improvisation and/or shared phrase work, but all with an aim to lead a responsive class to what the people in the room need/are curious about.
