A 6-day paid professional development opportunity for WA independent artists

Expressions of interest are invited from dance artists wishing to participate in a paid 6-day workshop with filmmaker Deborah May and choreographer Adelina Larsson. 

This workshop is especially suited for artists interested in making and filming their own movement work. No previous filmmaking skills are necessary, but each participant should come with ideas and curiosity and be prepared to work collaboratively.

Over the course of the first 5 days artists will explore ideas and techniques for filming dance/movement and for creating choreography for the camera.

Through discussion, screenings of selected films and choreographic tasks artists will examine ways of presenting movement on screen, exploring camera angles, camera movement, distance and intention in relation to dance movement. All participating artists will have the opportunity to film, to choreograph and to perform.The outcome will be 12 short films made by each artist, to be screened on Day 6.

This is a paid opportunity for 12 professional dance artists -  AU$1500 p/p

You will need to attend all sessions.

EOI’s will be reviewed and by lead artists May/Larsson. STRUT Dance will not partake in any assessment, but may provide supportive information, if the artist is unknown.
