Rachel is a dancer and dance artist originally from South Africa but based in Perth. Rachel graduated from WAAPA in 2015 with a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Dance) through Link Dance Company after completing an Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts (Dance) at WAAPA. Rachel has worked with local and international choreographers such as Michael Whaites, Tamas Moricz, Xiao Xiong Zhang, Liesel Zink, Kim McCarthy, Matt Cornell, Natalie Allen and has performed in Balanchine’s Serenade under the direction of Eve Lawson. Rachel is also a dance photographer and aspires to run her own dance company one day that focuses on collaborating dance with other mediums.

This year Rachel wishes to explore her creativity and find her footing in the world of dance and arts. Rachel’s goal to spend more time focussing on choreographing, teaching, performing and travelling. She aims to go to Vienna for Impulstanz workshops in June/August while creating small works in Perth throughout the year.

What to expect in Rachel’s class: having trained in classical ballet for the most parts of her life, Rachel likes to work on posture and alignment as well as core engagement, so that the dance movements feel fluid and enjoyable. Rachel likes to create fun yet challenging exercises so that the student feels both mentally and physically accomplished.
